Imagine my surprise when I received a Facebook message out of the clear blue from a woman named LaTrice Benachou. It seems that she was married to Remi Benachou, grandson of Maurice Benhamou, my father’s wartime friend. She was reading the book and wanted to reach out. It just so happened, that they would be coming to Phoenix the next day to visit friends. Were we available to get together on such short notice? Of course! Remi’s mother Nicole is the daughter I have yet to meet. When I connected with Giselaine and Norbert in 2010, Nicole was still living in Israel. She now lives in Paris, so I hope to meet her the next time we visit. Remi’s older sister also lives in Paris. So, my Benhamou “family” continues to grow, and Dad’s and my story marches on….
My interview on NPR/KJZZ finally aired on Wednesday, November 27th on “The Show.” Here is the link. Hope you enjoy! If the link doesn’t work, you can get on the KJZZ website and search “The Show” archive for 11/27.
A day to remember the brave men and women who sacrificed so much for our freedoms. A day to especially remember my father’s service during the WWII. Thank you Daddy for all you did. Love, Always, your daughter.
The good news is that “Love, Bill” is still the Book Selection for the KJZZ Book Club (Phoenix NPR Radio). Unfortunately, the Bool Chat that I will be appearing at will not be broadcast on the radio as I initially thought, and is only advertised to their Book Club members. However, if you get on their website, you can register to attend the Chat. Anyone in the Phoenix area is welcome, so I hope to see you all there. Here is the information:

Some great, unexpected news! “Love, Bill” has been selected as the next book to be featured on the KJZZ (Local National Public Radio station) Book Club. I will take part in the live Book Chat in early November just in time for Veterans Day. As soon as the exact details are firmed up, I will pass those along. Stay tuned!
On June 30, I had the opportunity to share “Love, Bill” with a group of expats at the Café Montorgueil in Paris. The Salon was hosted by its fearless leader, Terrance Gelenter, former New Yorker, and now, Parisian bon vivant. Terrance reviewed the book last summer in his newsletter and invited me to share it with his friends the next time I was in Paris. It was a lively Sunday morning gathering on the bustling Rue de Montorgueil. What a delight to bring “Love, Bill” back to Paris where part of its story was born.
I will be giving a lecture about “Love, Bill” at the Valley of the Sun Jewish Community Center on Wednesday, March 27th at 11:00am. Call to register: (480) 481-7024
Valley of the Sun Jewish Community Center, 12701 North Scottsdale Road
Another Veterans Day since publishing “Love, Bill,” and another opportunity to thank my father and all the WWII heroes who sacrificed so much to preserve our freedoms. An additional thanks goes to the veterans of all subsequent wars. May your service always be remembered.
A new podcast called “Jewelry Journey” was recently launched by my friend Sharon Berman . My interview went live today. Although the bulk of the interview focuses on my art history/jewelry history world, I do discuss WWII Sweetheart Jewelry and “Love, Bill.” You can access the interview at the following link:
